Recruiting update

April 9th, 2011
By

A late arrival in the big picture of UH recruiting is Anthony Odunsi, a 6-foot-4 combo guard at Fort Bend Travis High School in Texas. He recently de-committed from Iowa State and could be in the running for the final scholarship UH has to hand out for the 2011-12 season.

Odunsi averaged about 18.3 points and 3.3 assists per game as a senior.

UH coach Gib Arnold was in Texas today and will swing through California on his way back to the islands.

Several players are in the mix for the final two UH scholarships, including Tyler McDaniels, the son of UH assistant coach Benjy Taylor. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 17.8 points and 7.1 rebounds as a freshman at Lake Michigan College, then put up 10.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in a different system as a sophomore at Georgia Perimeter College. Michael Harvey, a sophomore small forward who averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds at Feather River College, is another known player who could receive a scholarship.

Don't expect everything to be sewn up by the April 13 signing day. Recruits have until May 18 to sign a national letter of intent, so it's possible recruits will still visit the Manoa campus throughout that period.

I have confidence that the ones UH decides on will be significant players and contributors, They should take extra time to make sure they have the right temperament and mentality to fit in with the team.

hope they have 2-3 good point guards in the house next season. the rest of the team looks solid.
